Our home is a reflection of who we are, so every design detail helps you make a positive first impression, and a step in the right direction is an intricate floor pattern.
A distinctive graphic pattern that takes on even more character in large plank dimensions. Where a traditional herringbone pattern has broken lines, a chevron pattern gives you a floor with uniform and clear lines, where each piece meets the end of another in a zig-zag pattern.
Solid planks laid in a herringbone pattern (parallel or diagonal) are arguably the most popular pattern today. Although not suitable for small spaces, herringbone offers great dimensional stability because each of the blocks is pressed against the other limiting movement.
Planks laid in random lengths from wall to wall as a straight pattern makes for a fluid transition from one room to the next. Each plank is made as long as possible, which allows for a high degree of utilisation of the raw materials. This is popular way to lay a floor because it simple and effective.
The planks are laid in lanes from corner to corner, next to each other. A traditional solution that creates a smooth transition and a beautiful interplay between the solid planks.
These are the questions we get asked most often about floor installation in Toronto
Bathrooms can get messy, water spillages combined with humidity are not ideal for solid hardwood floors or carpets. Waterproof laminate, luxury vinyl tiles and porcelain tiles are good choices. Plus the cross layer construction of engineered hardwood counteracts wood's natural tendency to swell or shrink in a humid environment.
Any flooring installed below ground level needs to be resistant to moisture. Engineered hardwood that is designed to be moisture resistant is a popular choice along with , luxury vinyl tiles, laminate flooring and porcelain tiles.
Solid hardwood flooring is durable, but if it is going to take a lot of punishment then better alternatives may be laminate, engineered hardwood floors and luxury vinyl tiles - all of which are durable and easy to clean and maintain.
Solid hardwood flooring has long been the top choice for homebuyers, and remains so. According to the National Wood Flooring Association, 99% of real estate agents say homes with hardwood floors are easier to sell, with 90% saying they sell for more money.
